I'm so happy! So I wake up this morning to sunshine, feeling really rested. This is completely abnormal. The rested part, not the sunshine. I do live in California. Laura left early this morning I didn't even see her before I stepped out into the sunshine for my own commute. Ominous clouds hang overhead as the Bart train enters the SF Bay tunnel. I pay no mind. Afterall, the mid morning sun will be up shortly (ahhhh California) so I'm expecting these wisps of clouds to be pulverized shortly by a lot of sunshine.
The TLC5940 from Texas Instruments is a neat chip. It can sink up to 17 volts and 120mA per output, driving up to 16 LEDs (or rows of LEDs, a matrix) at full brightness. It has 12 bit per channel pulse width modulation (PWM), which means 4096 levels of brightness control.
Here's one of my earliest projects, a fun messaging machine with an LCD and some random flashing LEDs. The action starts around 0:20, sorry I really should trim this vid. |
