Announcing: 100 Bumble-Bs in 10 Days

100 Bumble-Bs in 10 DaysFrom December 26 2009 through January 4 2010, I invite you into the process of building Bumble-B's. I'll build ten per day and video record the entire process.

While building, I'll chat all about Fletchtronics and how I started up a hobby / part-time evening business that is paying for itself and not breaking the bank.

A blog post with a more detailed description of the content, and room for Q&A in comments will accompany each video.

Update: Here is a link to all the 100 Bumble-Bs in 10 Days blog posts.

Every day will feature new topics of conversation. Each daily session should take 15 to 30 minutes. I will video one particular part of the process each day. A new blog post and video will be posted each night.

The best parts of the daily videos will be made into a single compilation sometime in January or February.

During the ten day Bumble-B festival, the price will be reduced by 10%, so it's a great time to stop by and order. There will also be a contest of some sort to give away a few of the 100 Bumble-Bs to some lucky contest entrant. More contest details to come on the 26th.

Here are some topics for the ten days:

  • How Fletchtronics got started, how the business has been built from the ground up with very little resources.
  • Learning how to ignore critics and run with an idea.
  • Producing the circuit board from designing in Eagle to circuit boards in hand.
  • Ordering parts.
  • Surface mount soldering using a hotplate - the entire process in great detail from bags of parts to finished product.
  • Topics of interest that appear in the comments here and in the chat room.
